Peace Boat Attends COP25 in Madrid, Spain

Nov 27, 2019

For the fifth consecutive year, Peace Boat and Ecoship will take part in the annual Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), to be held in Madrid, Spain from December 2-13, 2019. Thousands of organizations and individuals are set to be attending the conference, which is designed to take the next crucial steps in the UN climate change process. Following agreement on the implementation guidelines of the Paris Agreement at COP 24 in Poland last year, a key objective is to complete several matters with respect to the functionality of the Paris Climate Change Agreement.

Peace Boat is pleased to announce that we will be partnering with other non-profit organizations to co-host several side events and an exhibition for COP 25. A delegation from Peace Boat will travel to take part in these events, and over the two weeks, the organization will introduce its activities related to climate action. As an international NGO, we have been working to build momentum for COP25 with the Ocean and Climate Youth Ambassadors Programme and Ecoship, our transformational project to build the world’s most sustainable cruise ship to reduce CO2 emissions by 40%.
