Peace Boat Events in support of World Oceans Day
The theme of UN World Oceans Day 2020 is “Innovation for a Sustainable Ocean.” Peace Boat is a proud member of the 2020 Friends of World Oceans Day (FOWOD) Group and excited to be organizing a series of online events with partner organizations working towards a sustainable ocean as a Partner of the UN World Oceans Day (WOD) website.

EarthxOcean
EarthX and the National Geographic Society will convene virtually to celebrate World Oceans Week from June 9-11 at EarthX.org. Tune in to watch our Peace Boat Ocean Youth leaders on June 9 from 6 – 6:45 PM during the youth presentations as they share their inspiring work towards sustainable ocean communities. EarthxOcean will bring together cross-disciplinary innovators driving solutions to the most pressing threats facing our oceans. These solutions will be explored through conversations, film screenings and extended reality experiences – highlighting the power of science and storytelling to unlock the impact potential of communities across cultures, generations and ideologies.

Sailing for Change in Oceans Week – Peace Boat’s Ocean Youth Leaders
Peace Boat’s youth leaders who are change-makers in their own communities are invited onboard Peace Boat’s ship through its youth programs where they learn from guest educators on board the ship and from different organizations in the countries the ship visits. These youth leaders are all actively working to protect our ocean, many on small island states that are dependent on the ocean and which are on the front lines of the climate crisis.
Join the session to hear more about their communities’ relationship with the ocean and their experiences sailing with Peace Boat.

Ocean Innovation Hub – An Immersive and Interactive Digital Platform for Sustainable Ocean Solutions
Join us in this inspiring virtual conference space to learn more and exchange ideas about the most important issues today facing our oceans. The full-day experience will include discussions, films, music, and photography exhibitions about the world’s oceans.
This event will be the grand finale for the UN World Oceans week of events around the theme for 2020 – “Innovation for a Sustainable Ocean”.
