Departure of the 121st Global Voyage!

Aug 21, 2025

On Tuesday, August 19, under the strong summer sun, Peace Boat’s 121st Global Voyage set sail from the port of Yokohama, Japan. A total of 1,700 passengers will spend 109 days visiting 16 ports in 13 countries.

At the departure ceremony, messages expressing hopes for the voyage were delivered by the Captain, Voyage Director, and Guest Educator Fukushima Tomiko, Vice President of the Kanagawa Association of A-bomb Survivors, among others.

The 121st Voyage carries the continued theme of the Peace Boat's project marking 80 years since the end of World War II: TIME FOR PEACE, aiming for each participant to consider what they can do for peace and to take action as they travel around the world.

This voyage also welcomes youth participants, including those on some special scholarships: those travelling through support of the 2nd Kawai Youth Empowerment Fund, which provides young people the opportunity to learn and take action for sustainability through travel, and the PEACE DAY MESSENGER project, conducted in partnership with the nonprofit organization PEACE DAY.

Continuing from the previous 120th Global Voyage, the outreach edition of the Nobel Peace Museum's Nobel Peace Prize Exhibition “A Message to Humanity” also continues to take its place on board the ship, introducing the work of 2024 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Nihon Hidankyo (the Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations) to audiences around the world.

And through Peace Boat’s UPA International Cooperation Project, donations from individuals and companies—such as musical instruments, stationery, art supplies, sports equipment, sewing kits, hygiene products, cooking utensils, and toys—will be delivered to community partners in South Africa, Panama, Peru, and Rapa Nui (Easter Island).

Please stay tuned for future reports from the 121st Global Voyage!
