Youth appeal to the Summit on Peace in Ukraine

On 15 and 16 June 2024, Switzerland is organising a Summit on Peace in Ukraine. Over 90 states are gathering to develop a common understanding of a path towards a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.

Dear delegates of the 2024 Ukraine Peace Summit and all humanity.

We are Ukraine Youth Ambassadors currently travelling around the world by ship with the NGO Peace Boat.  Our mission is to raise awareness of the Russian aggression on Ukraine and to call for peace. We have a simple message - the war in Ukraine must be stopped.

As people who experienced the war, we understand that strength is not only in weapons but also in unity and cooperation. We are grateful to all the countries attending the Ukraine Peace Summit now in Switzerland and showing solidarity to Ukraine. We hope that your action now will help contribute to creating the conditions necessary for the much desired peace for our country.
 
Safety of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the full withdrawal of Russian military forces from Ukraine and releasing hostages – a ceasefire and political negotiation to achieve these three points from the peace formula can be an essential step for peace in Ukraine.

Russian forces took away our opportunity to live in Ukraine, destroyed our lives, houses, dreams and killed our friends and families. We, the young generation, are fighting for freedom, for our land, for our language, our home. We want to build our future in Ukraine. Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians gave their lives for our opportunity to have this future. As Ukrainian Youth, the main thing that will allow us to have our future is to end this war.

Your countries are part of international organizations and treaties to maintain peace and security, and condemning the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine is directly related to upholding the principles of international law. If you do not act, the war lead only to larger wars and conflicts.

As Ukrainian youth, we are doing everything for Ukraine to achieve peace and stability. And we hope for cooperation from you, the international community.
