Meet the Survivors: Stories from Hiroshima and Nagasaki in London
Peace Boat is collaborating with the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) and Quakers in Britain for the event in London “Meet the Survivors: Stories from Hiroshima and Nagasaki”.
Tanaka Toshiko was six years old and on her way to school in Hiroshima when she was exposed to the atomic bomb that was dropped on her city. Ogawa Todayoshi was one a year old and evacuated outside of the city when the atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. He was exposed to radiation when his family returned to Nagasaki one week later. The two survivors of the atomic bombings are sharing their stories as they travel the world with Peace Boat as part of the Global Voyage for a Nuclear Free World.
The stories from the Hibakusha will be followed by art workshops, Japanese crane folding and a performance by dramatist Michael Mears.
