Since the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami on March 11, 2011 and subsequent nuclear disaster at the TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, Peace Boat has taken a leading role in working to support affected communities, particularly children, of Fukushima; communicating the reality of the situation internationally; and advocating for a nuclear phaseout in Japan’s energy policy.
