On February 26, Peace Boat called at the port of Valparaíso, in Chile. Within the activities of the 'Voyage of Light', Litro de Luz Chile organized an event about renewable and sustainable energy joined by dozens of people.
Peace Boat Hibakusha Project on the 100th Voyage
The "Global Voyage for a Nuclear-Free World: Peace Boat Hibakusha Project" was held onboard the 100th Voyage, between December 26, 2018 - March 31, 2019, with the theme “From Banning to Abolishing Nuclear Weapons with the Power of Civil Society.” Ms. Watanabe Junko, a survivor of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima who now lives in Brazil, joined the ship when it docked in Rio de Janeiro in February.

In memory of Roland Oldham, Moruroa e Tatou
Peace Boat is deeply saddened by the passing of Roland Oldham, a fervent defender of the victims of nuclear testing in Polynesia and across the world. As president of the association of former workers from the Moruroa and Fangataufa nuclear test sites, Roland played a vital role in the campaign for recognition, compensation and reparations for the Maohi workers who suffered adverse health effects from their work at the nuclear test sites.

Peace Boat is calling for “Youth Communicators for a Nuclear-Free World” who will participate in Peace Boat's East Asia Voyage (August 4-23, 2019). Applications are open for youth between 18 and 35 years old, who can convey messages for peace and nuclear abolition based on the legacies of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Peace Boat is now seeking dynamic and highly motivated volunteers for its 102nd Global Voyage. Departing from Japan on September 1, 2019, and returning on December 13, 2019, this circumnavigational voyage will include visits to 23 ports in 20 countries, including Sri Lanka, Egypt, Canada, and Iceland.

The second DPRK-US Summit came to an end in the Vietnamese Capital of Hanoi on February 28. It is regretful that this summit did not produce any concrete agreement, and many were disappointed that it did not result in a long-awaited declaration of the end of the Korean War.
