Financial Aid - Global Friendship Award
Peace Boat has been coordinating regional and global educational voyages from Japan since 1983, taking over 40,000 participants and visiting over 100 ports of call, with the aim of creating awareness and action based on effecting positive social and political change in the world.

We believe that the mobilization of volunteers is one of the key elements in building a broad social movement. Our Japan-based volunteer schemes engage hundreds of people a year in Peace Boat activities, with work done in land being credited against the costs of joining a voyage. Through these volunteer schemes, Peace Boat has been able to make our peace voyages accessible to people from all walks of life and strengthen activity in civil society in Japan.

Striving to expand Peace Boat's programmes to participants from around the world, the "Global Friendship Award" offers up to 30% subsidy in the voyage fare for young participants from abroad.
