Stop the killing! Protect life in Gaza
~ In our shoes - Joint NGO Action ~
To remember the victims and demand an immediate end to the fighting

As of August 18, almost 2,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since Operation Protective Edge was launched by the Israeli army on July 8th. According to the United Nations, 459 of these are children*.

Valuing the life of each individual, we, the undersigned NGOs, appeal to the Israeli government for an immediate end to the attacks on civilians and call on the international community to take firm action against the war crimes committed during this conflict.

This Saturday, August 23, we invite you to join us for a join action to grieve victims and demand an immediate end to the fighting.

* A child is defined as under the age of 18 under international law.

Please bring a pair of shoes!
While the number of people killed is widely reported, too often victims can be seen only as a statistic. During the action, we will display pairs of shoes and call out the names of children who have lost their lives to remind us that they are not 'numbers' but individuals.
* Please bring any shoes (one pair or more); they do not have to be children's shoes.
* Please make sure to take back your shoes after the event.

Program (Tentative)
・Report from the ground: Shiba Rei (Freelance journalist)
・Memorial service for the victims: The names of 458 children victims will be read out, while the same number of pairs of shoes are laid out.
・ Minute of silence
・ Appeal from the organizers
