"Stop the Bombing! Save Lives in Gaza" Urgent Candle Action, July 21, 2014
Date: July 21, 2014
Location: Meiji Park

Since the start of Israel's military attack on Gaza on July 8, the number of dead and injured continues to increase. The Israeli army has repeatedly bombarded the densely populated Gaza Strip, killing many civilians, including children and women. At the same time, violent forces in Gaza have indiscriminately fired rockets back toward Israel.

It is a war crime to attack civilian residences, and such actions cannot be accepted under any circumstances. However, rather than listening to worldwide appeals for a ceasefire, the Israeli army announced on July 16 that it was reinforcing the bombings of the north Gaza region.

Concerned about the lives being lost and the worsening situation, on July 21, NGOs and civil society organizations based in Japan will come together to call for an immediate halt of military attacks that victimize civilians. A candelight action will also be held to remember the lives, both Palestinians and Israelis, that have been lost in the violence.

We invite you to join us in this important evening for peace.
