"Hibakusha" Photo Exhibition - Zurich, Switzerland, July 31 - August 11, 2014
Date: July 31 - August 11, 2014
Location: Photobastei, Zurich, Switzerland

Portrait of Hattori Michiko, one of eight Hibakusha who will be featured in this photo exhibition.

Thomas Züger, photographer from Switzerland, joined Peace Boat's 83rd voyage to portrait eight members of the seventh edition of the Hibakusha Project: Global Voyages for a Nuclear Free World and listen to their testimonies. Being inspired and moved by their life stories, he created a photo exhibition "Hibakusha" (from the Japanese term used to refer to atomic bomb survivors), which will be open in Zürich, in Photobastei, from July 31 to August 11, 2014.

The exhibition will present eight black&white photo portraits of Hibaksuha from Hiroshima and Nagasaki: Hakariya Michio, Mise Seiichiro, Sugino Nobuko, Sakashita Noriko, Nakamura Motoko, Sakata Takanari, Hattori Michiko and Lee Jongkeun. Their written testimonies will be also displayed at the exhibition.

"With my pictures, I would like to give a real face to these people and to help that their stories are not forgotten", said Thomas Züger in the announcement of the exhibition.

The Global Voyages for a Nuclear Free World: Peace Boat Hibakusha Project has been regularly organized on Peace Boat voyages since 2008.
