Mar 13, 2014 - Press Release: Peace Boat's 83rd Global Voyage Departure
Hibakusha from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and Children from Fukushima Set Sail
Peace Boat's 83rd Global Voyage will depart from the Port of Yokohama on March 13, 2014. Approximately 900 passengers will travel to 20 ports in 18 different countries, and return to Yokohama on June 24, 2014. During the 104-day voyage 8 Hibakusha (atomic bomb survivors) from Hiroshima and Nagasaki will take part in the "Global Voyage for a Nuclear-Free World: Peace Boat Hibakusha Project" to appeal to the world about the humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons. 12 students from the tsunami and nuclear power plant disaster stricken Minamisoma will also join the voyage as "Fukushima Youth Ambassadors".

A press conference will be held regarding these projects and more at the time of the ship's departure from the port of Yokohama.

Please Note:
- The press conference will end at 10:30am. This will include an outdoors photo shoot in front of Peace Boat's ship. As the participants are required to embark the ship immediately after the press conference, we regret that there will not be any time for individual interviews. Thank you for your understanding.
- The ship is scheduled to depart from the port at 14:00. There will be opportunities to take photos and videos of the departure from the observation deck, including ceremony.
