Sep 12, 2012 - PRESS RELEASE: Urgent Demands presented to PM Noda today
Urgent Demand!

Today a coalition of leading Japanese NGOs will make the following demands towards Prime Minister Noda:
'Reduce the number of Power Plants to Zero as soon as possible!'
'Immediately Stop the Ohi Nuclear Power Plant!'
'Revoke the Personnel Proposal of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission'

This summer the government presented the people of the nation the option on energy and the environment as a national debate. As a result, the majority of the people supported the 'Zero Scenario' to decrease the number of nuclear power plants to zero as soon as possible by the year 2030. We demand that Prime Minister Noda takes in the New Basic Energy Plan that came to existence by the national debate held by the government, to achieve the figure of Zero Nuclear Power Plants.

1. Explicit commitment to reduce the number of power plants to zero as soon as possible based on the New Basic Energy Plan
2. The immediate stop of the Ohi Nuclear Power Plant
3. The revocation of the Personnel Proposal for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission
* After the press conference at the Office Building of the House of Representatives, this demand will be presented to the Special Adviser to the Prime Minister.
