"Voices of Fukushima" at Rio+20
Delegation of 6 from Fukushima to Participate in UN Conference

The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) will be held from June 20 - 22 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Discussions about a sustainable future will be held between world leaders, with participation of many NGOs from all over the world.

A delegation of 6 from Fukushima, including members of local civil society action groups, farmers and a university student will travel to Rio de Janeiro to participate in this conference. Their mission is to tell the world about the effects of the nuclear power plant accident and to spread their message for a future without nuclear power.

At Rio+20, the delegation will speak at events including an official UN side event, and cooperate with other participating NGOs to to share their "Voices from Fukushima" on various levels. This project is a collaboration between the NGOs Peace Boat, Earth Summit 2012, Earth Day Tokyo, World Shift Network Japan, and A SEED JAPAN.
