May 29, 2016 - Announcement: Peace Boat to attend the 66th UN DPI/NGO Conference in Gyeongju, Korea
The 66th United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI)/Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Conference will be held in the City of Gyeongju, Republic of Korea, from 30 May to 1 June 2016 0 the first of its kind to take place in Asia. Organized by the NGO Relations and Advocacy Section of the United Nations Department of Public Information, in partnership with the Republic of Korea, the NGO/DPI Executive Committee, and the National Organizing Committee of Korea, the theme of the 66th UN DPI/NGO Conference is "Education for Global Citizenship: Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals Together."

Peace Boat will attend this conference, as an opportunity to meet with likeminded organisations and share our experiences in education for peace, sustainability and global citizenship. Peace Boat's diverse programmes, both onboard the ship and otherwise, the UNfs Sustainable Development Goals for a more sustainable and resilient world - with no one left behind. Taking place during the launch year of the newly adopted Sustainable Development Goals, this conference is an opportunity to mobilize civil society and academic organizations around the 2030 agenda, with a focus on education and global citizenship as drivers for change and action. Workshop: Empowering Youth to Find Solutions: Northeast Asian Models of Education for Peace, the Environment and the SDGs

This workshop will introduce education projects for peace and sustainability in Asia, including Peace & Green Boat, a regional voyage in collaboration between Peace Boat and Korea's largest environmental NGO, the Green Foundation. It will also consider how to build a collaborative network of youth, educators and civil society groups to realize the public awareness, partnerships and action necessary to build a sustainable, peaceful world.
