On April 12, the 12-country "Non-proliferation and Disarmament Initiative" led by the governments of Japan and Australia held a Ministerial Meeting in Hiroshima. Amidst heightening international concern regarding the humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons, this gathering of world leaders in the atomic bombed city of Hiroshima was hoped to be an opportunity to raise awareness and continue to strengthen the momentum towards a ban of nuclear weapons. Peace Boat collaborated with civil society groups from Hiroshima, Japan and internationally, including the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), to organise a series of conferences and actions in Hiroshima during this time.

Japanese language information about the events can be seen here.
