Korea-Japan Relations
Peace Boat calls for the normalization of Japan-DPRK (North Korea) relations, and promotes dialogue on the question of history and reconciliation. Through the organization of peace education voyages to the DPRK, Peace Boat seeks to encourage grassroots level interaction and understanding on issues ranging from Japan-Korea history, war responsibility and reconciliation, as well as the creation of a Northeast Asia Nuclear-Free Zone. Since 2005, Peace Boat and the Green Foundation of Korea have organized regional voyages and programs focusing on building links between the peoples of Korea and Japan in order to contribute to building a peaceful and sustainable future for East Asia. In addition, Peace Boat aims to provide humanitarian support for the people of the DPRK through public fundraising campaigns in collaboration with Korean-based NGOs.
