In 2015, the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II and the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the peace movement in Japan is regarded as a potential recipient of this year's Nobel Peace Prize. However this year new security bills have been passed, use of the right to collective self-defense has been made possible, and there has been a massive change in Japan's post-war security policies. The Japanese government pressed ahead with these laws, despite widespread opposition by the Japanese people. The fact that many groups and individuals related to nuclear weapons abolition and Article 9 - the peace clause of the Japanese Constitution - are considered likely candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize should be considered a warning from the international community to the Japanese government and society.

Peace Boat and the Global Article 9 Campaign will jointly hold a Public Viewing, including live screening of the announcement of the Nobel Peace Prize and commentary by eminent persons from various fields.
