Living without Hate - Talk event with Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, February 19, 2014
Date: February 19, 2014
Location: Nakano, Tokyo

"I Shall Not Hate: A Gaza Doctor's Journey on the Road to Peace and Human Dignity" by Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish. Japanese version published by Akishobo Inc.

This coming February 19 (Wednesday), Peace Boat will co-host a symposium featuring Palestinian physician and author Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, together with Dr. Kamata Minoru, renowned author of books such as "Gambaranai (Never Overtry)" and "Akiramenai (Never Give Up)", and Dr. Seita Akihiro, Director of Health Program at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.

Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish was born and raised in a refugee camp in Gaza, and went on to become a renowned gynaecologist working both in Palestine and Israel. On 16 January, 2009, at the height of the Israeli military attack on Gaza, three of his young daughters and his niece were killed by Israeli shells fired directly into his house. After suffering this traumatic loss, Dr. Abuelaish, however, refused to let their killing provoke him to hatred or revenge. Instead, he has devoted himself to spreading a message understanding and co-existence, hoping his daughters would become the last victims of the conflict.

In this event, Dr. Abuelaish, together with Dr. Kamata Minoru and Dr. Seita Akihiro, whose work supports Palestinian refugees, will talk about his search for life without hate and for co-existence with neighbours and neighbouring countries. Do not miss this unique chance to hear his story.
