Volunteer Onboard

Peace Boat voyages offer a great opportunity for those people with language skills to further develop their capacity while contributing to the strengthening of global civil society. Each voyage, Peace Boat recruits volunteer interpreters and language teachers to support its programmes onboard.

  • INTERPRETER - Applications are now open for the 92nd global voyage departing Japan on August 18, 2016 and returning to Japan on November 29, 2016.

  • WEB REPORTER Peace Boat is currently recruiting a volunteer web reporter for the 92nd Global Voyage. The main role of the web reporter is to create reports about onboard and in port programmes for the Peace Boat English website and social media. Coverage is primarily through text and photographs, and video where possible. Reports are uploaded to the "Voyages" section on the Peace Boat website.

    Peace Boat's 92nd Global Voyage for Peace will depart from Japan on 18 August and return to Japan on 30 November 2016 after visiting 26 ports in Asia, Africa, Europe, the Americas and the Caribbean. This historic voyage includes visits to New York, Havana and Hawaii, the first time in Peace Boat's history that it has ever been possible to include ports in the both the USA and Cuba in one voyage in Peace Boat's history, thanks to improved diplomatic relations. It will visit several major cities in Europe including London and Amsterdam and Barcelona and travels through the Aurora belt off the coast of Iceland. The 92nd Global Voyage will host the 9th Global Hibakusha Project. Five survivors from the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki will be joined by two second generation Hibakasha and two Youth Ambassadors to talk about their own experiences and call for nuclear abolition.

  • ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHERS -Peace Boat's language training programme, is now accepting applications for English and Spanish language instructors for the 93rd global voyage departing Japan on December 9, 2016 and returning to Japan on March 23, 2017. The Volunteer Language Teacher application deadline is 17:00 JST (Japan Standard Time) on Friday, August 19, 2016. National interviews are scheduled to be held on September 10th and 11th (Saturday and Sunday) at the GET Office in Tokyo, Japan. Interviews for oversees applicants will be conducted via Skype around the time of the national interviews. Please check back to our website as these dates are subject to change.

  • PROFESOR(A) - El programa de GET está aceptando solicitudes para el puesto de profesor(a) voluntario(a) de inglés y español en nuestro viaje global 93 que saldrá de Japón el 9 de diciembre de 2016 y regresará el 23 de marzo de 2017. La fecha límite para recibir las solicitudes es el viernes, 19 de agosto de 2016, a las 17:00 (hora de Japón). Las fechas de las entrevistas para candidatos residentes en Japón están previstas para los días 10 y 11 (sábado y domingo) de septiembre en las oficinas de GET en Tokio. Las entrevistas vía Skype para candidatos en el exterior se realizarán alrededor de las mismas fechas.
